MISSION 2 | Week 6 | Day 5

I am feeling very fatigued after weeks of Giant sets 4 days per week followed by cardio but my program calls for Hypertrophy next as part of my periodisation so I have a dilemma.

I am in need of weeks rest before I start Hypertrophy but then my main goal will suffer so what will I do.

After introspection I have decided that since transformation is a long term plan for me I will take the rest and bite the bullet as far as my main goal is concerned. Still I'll see what I look like at the end of 84 days.

So next week no training.

My 42 day pics are above. Havn't made the progress I would have expected but C'est la vie.

I will re structure my eating and see what happens. I think at 58 yrs of age I am continually battling a sluggish metabolism and lowered testosterone.....BUT I WILL NOT LET THAT INFLUENCE MY PROGRESS.

I still believe implicity in my ability to achieve whatever I want...it just may take a bit longer.

MISSION 2 | Week 6 | Day 2

Again a very tough session followed by cardio. Although adaption has taken place so has fatigue.
This is the last week of giant sets before moving to Hypertrophy which I'm looking forward to next week. Re looking me eating for next week to accomodate Hypertrophy.

MISSION 2 | Week 6 | Day 1

Very tough session followed by hard cardio. Felt great afterwards, look forward to tuesday.

Mission 2 | Week 5 | day 5

Final training day of this week - Squats - Front 4 x 10 and back 2 x 20 + all the rest. Even though I was wasted I forced myself to do 10 mins Hiit cardio just to make sure that after depleting glycogen through training I elevated my metabolism as much as possible.

Over time through forcing myself to do them and do them properly I have learned to love compound exercises, bench , deadlift, front and back squats etc. Firstly squats are cool because the rack is always free.

Most people are scared of them and increase the pace as they walk past the rack in case they hear it calling " Hey how come you never play with me " and feel guilty.

For some weeks now I have not done any specific arm work and my arms have grown, which just proves to me that if you do a lot of intense compound work, extra arm isolation stuff is not necessary....the arm muscles are very small in relation to the bigger muscles like pecs and quads and so logically do not need a special day of training....I don't think so anyway.

That's not to say I won't ever do skull crushers and db bicep curls etc etc, again. I probably will when I do hypertrophy training.

Right now - FAT LOSS - is where I'm at.

Have a great weekend, See ya monday.

Mission 2 | Week 5 | day 4

Thursday - deadlift day - again a short post confirming, workout done, meals eaten and water consumed. Day by day I'm more focussed on my eating, realising that I am working flat out on my training so eating is even more important.

Great training day, another tough session.

Mission 2 | Week 5 | day 3

Rest day day today. Well earned and definately needed.

However I am looking forward to qorking really hard tomorrow + a cardio session.

Am working hard on my eating and doing a few tweaks here and there so we'll see if it worked next weekend at picture day.

Mission 2 | Week 5 | day 2

Another session where I came close to getting sick...literally....felt completely wasted afterwards.
On a scale of 1-10, I score myself 12.

I couldn't even think about a cardio session as well.

I feel that I'm shedding BF and we'll see at the end of next week.

Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow.

Mission 2 | Week 5 | Day 1

Week 2 of hi intensity fat loss work and I felt brilliant. So much energy I even did a tough 10 min cardio session directly afterwards. I wonder if it's coz I had a protein shake and a peach 20 minutes before training.

Still hecticly busy so longer posts will have to wait. With these time constarints I miss all the shredders but...I'll get it right in a while.

Later.

M2 | Week 4 | day 5

RESULTS DAY

4 Weeks done, 8 weeks left in Mission 2.

week 1 of giant sets complete...man that's tough.

Have lost 2.5ks and 2% body fat so far. Hoped for better but I'll pay even more attention to my eating program going forward. Have three weeks of giant sets left so we'll see how it looks in 2 weeks.

On the surface it looks like not much progress but my pecs are tighter and I have lost bf in my upper upper body...if you know what I mean.

So I move on with enthusiasm and hope for a leaner tighter and stronger next few weeks.

M2 | Week 4 | day 4

2nd last session for the week. Worked really hard and as a result only managed 10 minutes of cardio. I take heart in the fact that the 45 mins of resistance training is also a serious cardio workout.

M2 | Week 4 | day 3

Day Off today...no training no cardio....just a game of golf.

Isn't it funny how golf courses are so much more beautiful when you play well.

M2 | Week 4 | day 2

I have 2 training sessions in this new FL component and just did the second one. WOW, it is really tough. Especially since I'm doing cardio directly afterward. If I don't lean out considerably over the next 3-4 weeks then clearly I have no clue what I'm doing. BUT I WILL,I have no doubt.

Giant sets are really hard...4 x different exercises in a row done without rest x 4 sets of 10. Followed 60 seconds later by another giant set of 4 x 2 sets of 20 with no rest.

Then 20 minutes HiiT - dripping is an understatement following that, but it is so satisfying when you've cooled off.

It's like banging your head against a brick wall...it's great when you stop.

Keep coming back - I feel a philosophical post coming on.

M2 | Week 4 | day 1

Have just finished 1st session of new routine. It is much more suited to fat loss than muscle building than before and I'm interested to see how it works. More focus on eating clean and drinking water.

Interesting cardio session - running stairs. Boy that is tough work.

Again...will start writing my thoughts very soon as opposed to training stuff which is very boring...so please bear with me, those of you that have hung in and still visit.

Thank you.

M2 | Week 3 | day 5

New personal best

Today was my last training day of phase 1 of Mission 2. I have planned my training a year in advance and phase 1 was pure fat loss program. I didn't expect to gain muscle but my strength certainly went through the roof.

Incline Dumbell Bench press up from last week to 45kgs (99lbs) in each hand for 3 x sets of 10.

It has been a revelation to me how much the body can take with this part of my program in that I have been able to increase all my weights over the past 3 weeks quite dramatically whilst working with 30 sec rest periods between supersets. Intense, Intense....followed by 20 mins Hi Intensity Cardio x 4 sessions per week. 2 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 2 days off.

I have adapted well and am really enjoying it.

Next program starts monday. Way more intense....I'll tell you how I feel after the session.

I will post new pics at the end of next week and also my stats for the first 4 weeks.
